Mayo Lad heading for the second career win through the Gatwickdiamondjobs.Com Handicap at Brighton
The Class 5 Gatwickdiamondjobs.Com Handicap will get staged at Brighton over five furlongs and 213 yards on Thursday, 26th April. The race carries a £2,264 purse and has attracted a line-up of nine three-year-old thoroughbreds.
None among the contestants have raced at Brighton. Two of the candidates, Whinging Willie and Love Tale will race their seasonal debuts today. The most convincing entry for the race is Mayo Lad, Holy Roman Emperor’s three-year-old bay colt out of mare, Mrs
Marsh.
He has raced twice during the new season and was sent as the favourite at both the instances.
He was the 11/4 favourite runner up in the Starsportsbet.Co.UK Handicap on12th April at Folkestone over six furlongs. Mayo Lad did not lose the race by a significant margin rather was adrift by just half a length from the winner, Dishy Guru.
The runner up was ridden by Ryan Moore and was soon joined by School Fees.
The three-year-old did not wait for long to post a victory on his record that too the debut victory of the career as he had remained unsuccessful in the first four career starts.
On 21st April, Mayo Lad was the 9/4 favourite winner of the 32Red Casino Handicap at Wolverhampton over six furlongs. He was ridden by Kieran O’Neill. Homeward Strut settled as the runner up after missing the victory by a mere neck’s difference.
Concluding the race third behind the winner was Miserere.
Second career success through the third outing of the 2012 season is not a bad plan for the three-year-old.
Another entry who has recently struck a win through the 2012 seasonal debut is Ficelle, Chineur’s three-year-old bay filly out of mare, Petite Boulangere. She won the Bet Totepool Text Tote To 89660 Selling Stakes on 13th April at Leicester over
six furlongs.
Ficelle had Martin Harley riding and the two led the runner up, Pressure Drop, by four lengths. First Bid finished third after the winner.
The 9/4 favourite of the race, Arte Del Calcio, concluded the race in the end.
Ficelle is up for the second chance of the season today.
