Question:

Mayor Question?

I am in the process of writing a children's story, and I need to know where I can find information about mayors of a city (who can be elected, qualifications to be a mayor, what happens if the mayor in office dies, how long they are in office, etc.) I should know more, being a social worker, but i am ashamed to say politics still confuse me. I looked on wikipedia.org, which was helpful, but it didn't help me with information about cities with 12,000 people or less. Is this process different with extremely small towns? I know my story is fiction, but I want it to be realitively accurate. (If you help me, I will not only give you 10 points, but I will dedicate my book to you!) Thanks everybody!

  1. Why don't you stop by the county clerk's office in the town hall of a nearby small town and ask them these questions? The smaller the town the better.

I'm sure they'd be very happy to answer them. You may even get inspired to borrow a few more details from what you find there.

  2. Have you tried to look it up on Wikipedia? It seems to be a good site for information...
