Mayr-Achleitner humbles Pervak to enter her first WTA final of the year – NURNBER Gastein Ladies 2011
Austrian Patricia Mayr-Achleitner continued her impressive run on the red surface as she thrashed out Ksenia Pervak of Russia 6-0, 6-0 to book her place in the final of 2011 NURNBERGER Gastein Ladies in Bad Gastein, Austria.
Mayr-Achleitner has been in stunning form since the tournament has started. She put up a brilliant show in her previous match-up as well and now she is looking in great shape to lift her first ever Women’s Tennis Associaiton title.
The Austrian tennis-pro made a great start to the contest as she seemed to be timing the ball really well. Grabbed opportunities with both hands, she broke the serve early to take a crucial 2-0 lead in the opening set. Mayr-Achleitner
showed great determination, fighting spirit and commitment for every available point. Claiming six straight games, she bagged the opening set in blink of any eye to take the set score lead 1-0.
Looking to wrap up the match in straight sets, Mayr-Achleitner started the second set on a great note as well. Breaking the serve three times in the set, she made her opponent’s game play look completely ineffective. Serving with
fierce power, she took control of the points and then placed her forehand and backhand winners all over the court. Playing a wonderful drop shot, she made three match points available to her and then converted the first one to seal an astonishing victory in
match that lasted for only 47 minutes.
It will not be wrong to say that Pervak had her chances in the match but she failed to handle the heat. She had a weak second serve as she could win only 15 per cent of the points on her second serve. Her game plan did not work
for at her very well
Mayr-Achleitner asserted dominance over her opponent in almost all areas of the game. It was one of her career best performances. Defeating a player ranked almost 50 places higher than herself, she will be feeling very confident
going into the final clash on Sunday.
