Mays Stewart dominant in the Magners Dual Distance Trophy – Heat 1 at Nottingham on 14th May
The Magners Dual Distance Trophy – Heat 1 will get staged at Nottingham over 500 metres on Monday, 14th May. Contesting for the £125 purse are Westmead Diva, Jasons Hawk, Romeo Energy, Mosquito Pilot, Fabulous Pin and Mays Stewart.
The entry with the best credentials is Mays Stewart, Zigzag Stewart’s three-year-old black and white son out of b***h, Valentia Show. He ended sixth in the seasonal debut which was in the Owlerton Bookmakers Standard on 10th January at Sheffield
over 500 metres.
The race was won by the 8/11 favourite of the race, Skywalker Louie, who timed the distance in 29.50 seconds and led the runner up, Farloe Elder, by seven lengths.
The disappointing start of the season led to a 483 metres drill at Doncaster on 20th January which he completed in 29.73 seconds.
His first success of the season was in the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Trophy on 19th March at Nottingham over 500 metres after completing the trip in 30.23 seconds. He led the runner up, Endova Rossi, by 8 ¼ lengths.
The 5/4 favourite of the race, Modern Man, finished sixth.
After stumbling to a sixth position in between, Mays Stewart won the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Trophy – Heat 2 on 16th April at Nottingham over 500 metres. The evening’s favourite timed the track distance in 30.27 seconds.
Finishing the closest was Fifis Romeo who reached the other end of the wire in 30.93 seconds.
On 23rd April he qualified as the runner up in the Stadium Bookmakers Standard Final at Nottingham over 500 metres after taking 30.42 seconds. The 6/4 favourite had to compromise with victory by a length by which the winner, Firecracker Jack,
led.
Coming at terms with the third position was Romeo Energy.
Mays Stewart then claimed a 483 metres race at Doncaster on 28th April by clocking the track distance in 30.26 seconds. The winner led the runner up, Valentia Zig, by five and a half lengths.
Suffering with the fifth position in the very recent try at Belle Vue on 3rd May over 670 metres in the Belle Vue Stayers will prompt him to claim the race tonight and thus win a fourth time during the new season.
