I agree... What kind of boxer would be stupid enough to retire when they are still in their prime... I see it as mayweather's stupid excuses... he knows that the welterweight division is the hardest division right now, so he's scared... but if he's a scared ************, go to church and stop being a wuss...

You are either not very knowledgeable about boxing or you are in denial. Miguel Cotto is a very good fighter and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a great fighter.  By the time that fight does happen Floyd will win impressively.  Cotto is still a very good fighter however, just not in Mayweather's class (no one is LOL).

Good boxing doesn't sell anymore; circus boxing does.  That's why more people will pay to see Tyson V. Holyfield than Floyd v. Cotto.  It's not Mayweathers' fault to try and cash in now with Wrestlemania garbage before boxing goes completely down the tubes.

If you want to see good fights, stop paying for bad ones.

Let put it like this. If Mayweather dont want to step in the ring with Cotto, why did Cotto send Bruseles back in 2005 to see if he would have a chance? Bruseles trained in Cotto's camp. Lets get the history correct. You have to ask yourself, why was Bruseles a Z class fighter, in the ring with Mayweather? We have to ask Cotto team that question. Mayweather said Cotto's team is not putting the money up. Whats the hold up with Cotto? Why want he put the money up? I yet to get that question answered yet, on here or on myspace boxing forms. Roger Mayweather said, "If the money is right, we will fight". There it is, its out there.

cotto wll bring alot of trouble to floyd. and floyd wants to remain undefeated. if he wants to keep that zero loses he better stay away from the top welters who can actually hurt him.  that p***y!!!!

Cotto fans...careful what you wish for.  Like a herion addict that wants more than anything is another hit of herion, but it doesn't mean that's a healthy way to go.

I see both sides of the argument. But I don't think he is ducking Cotto by any means. Floyd Mayweather is a great boxer, as much as I don't like him personally I have to give him that. And let's be realistic, Mayweather has been in so many big fights against good fighters that we honestly can say Cotto wouldn't destroy him. It would be a great fight. I would love to see it. Its the classic match up of a boxer vs puncher both at the top of their game. And trust me Mayweather is not retiring, their already talking about a Hatton\Mayweather next summer in England. I think it's very likely we'll see Cotto vs Mayweather in 2009-2010.

You might be right.  

Leonard waited for more people to know who Hearns was.  Die-hards were clamoring for that fight a year before it happened.   Perfect timing on Leonard's part.  

Oscar didn't have to wait for Tito.  Everyone knew him as well as they knew Oscar.  Plus, Puerto Rico vs Mexico is always a fiery mix.  I don't care if the fighters were blue birds it will still sell tickets.  

Nuns in a convent, in Timbuktu, know who Cotto is.   What is Floyd waiting for?

You are correct.  PBF does not want to see Cotto because he feels Cotto is not a " Big Enough PPV Draw."  If you put yourself in PBF's shoes,  WHY take a fight against a DANGEROUS COTTO for $8 - $15 Million.  Tomorrow PBF will make $20 Million in Wrestle Mania XXIV and later in Sept PBF will fight DeLa Hoya and make another $100 Million.

At the best case scenario: Cotto beat Gomez on April 12th.  Then later this year, ( maybe even on the Mayweather / DeLa Hoya Card )  Cotto will fight the winner of the Mosley vs. Judah fight on May 31st.

Early in 2009 Mayweather with face Cotto or Mosley.
