Mayweather Sr. on Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: A lot of money wasted – Boxing News
Floyd Mayweather Sr. spoke to Doghouse Boxing regarding his son’s upcoming fights, his arch rival Manny Pacquiao’s future and the possibility of a super-fight between the two. According to Mayweather Sr, the fight between the two is no longer as crispy as
it was could have been. When asked about it, ‘a lot of money wasted’ is what he had to say.
“A lot of money wasted. It’s a fight that my son could of definitely won if Pacquiao would of taken the test. My son could of definitely beaten Pacquiao, you see how he whipped Marquez who would want to see my son and Marquez fight again?” said Mayweather
Sr.
According to Floyd’s associate, the WBC welterweight titlist will be fighting two fights next year, one probably against Saul Alvarez and the other against Robert Guerrero.
Fans have waited for more than two years for both the welterweight icons to fight. However, following Pacquiao’s knockout loss against Juan Manuel Marquez, fans are now disheartened with the idea. For a lot of boxing fans and analysts, Manny Pacquiao is
no longer the fight he once used to be. They hailed Pacquiao as the best and now they want him to retire.
“I would have to say no. When you get knocked out like that, pretty much everything is over. When you get knock out like that, when you start fighting and stuff, and when you get hit with a good punch, another good shot another good punch, you say oh s**t,
you realize you escaped that one, and you realize you can’t escape another,” added Mayweather Sr. when asked about the possibility of Manny Pacquiao’s return.
Not just Mayweather Sr, a lot of other fighters, fans and analysts believe that the Filipino fight king must now hang his gloves and pursue a healthy life with family. However, Pacquiao is not of the same view, as he has already registered his thoughts regarding
a fifth fight against Marquez.
Pacquiao has already signed a two-year contract with Top Rank, which means he will not be retiring until 2014. Hopefully, the Filipino icon will revive his career with a major defeat in order to continue with his legacy. A few more losses can completely
devastate his career.
