Mayweather Sued (Again)
Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s professional promotion company, Mayweather Promotions, was evicted from a Las Vegas office recently after the company failed to meet a rent payment.  Mayweather is being sued for the unpaid amount, as well as a breach of contract.
The superstar’s lawyer, Jeff Morse, assured that the recent eviction was nothing substantial, and that the company has already reopened elsewhere (though he declined to say where).  He added that the current building’s conditions were substandard.
Attorney Ross Goodman said Mayweather owed $63,000 in outstanding rent money.  He also said that Mayweather failed to notify the landlord about any tenant issues.
Mayweather is a multi-millionaire who earned over $20 million in May from a title fight against Shane Mosley.  The Ring Magazine lists as him as No.2 best pound for pound fighter in the world, despite the fact that he has said he is currently taking some time off from the sport.
Mayweather is no stranger to litigations.  He has been sued by no less than a rap recording company, a default loan gone bad on a Mercedes Benz, and Ring Magazine’s top fighter in the world, Manny Pacquiao.  In the last case Mayweather was accused of defamation of character, after he suggested Manny Pacquiao had been taking performance enhancing drugs and using them to be successful in the ring.
A court date for the current proceedings has yet to be set, but TDF Investments LLC assures that it will go on with the civil lawsuit.
In recent months Mayweather has been the source of much controversy, as negotiations with Top Rank Promotions and a mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao has failed to bring about anything definite a second time.  Many have said that Mayweather is avoiding the business and the fight, which would be the biggest payday for both fighters, if not for all-time in boxing.
