Mayweather a fraud?

Question

How has mayweather kept his welterweight title even though he has not had a mandatory defense in 1 1/2 years since he won it? His title is dubious at best, winning it from club fighter Baldomir. If Mayweather is all that, he would line up Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, Williams, Berto, and fight them all in order. If he does that, then I'll say he is great. I don't think I have anything to worry about though, because it will NEVER happen. Like I said, mayweather is a fraud!

Mayweather is a Fraud because he wont fight Cotto when you want him too that's really what the situation really boils down too. He isn't fighting Cotto when everyone is pressuring him too so now everyone wants to say he is a fraud and he is scared. COTTO HASN'T EVEN CALLED HIM OUT SO IF COTTO WANTS A FIGHT THEN HE SHOULD SPEAK UP LIKE HATTON. Floyd Offered him a fight when Cotto was at 140 and they turned it down. You named Five guys Floyd only fights about two times a year it would take 4 years for all those fights to happen. Your going to make an excuse if he beats those guys anyway

I used to be just like these guys making up excuses to say he isn't the best before the Oscar fight I realized the guy is Awesome Rather you like him or not Margartio is the only man out of those fighters that i think can give him a good fight.

Is Mayweather the fraud or  a smart business man padding his record in order to make him the biggest draw possible ala De La Hoya or is boxing an imperfect sport where it takes years to put the best fights together if they even ever happen at all because you have all these different belts and sanctioning bodies and fighters who do not want to sacrifice their records because losses hurt their gross income?  How come Riddick never fought Lennox?

Well people i dont know if you didnt notice but the welter weight division is moving on with out him.

Also he has met the requirments for defenses, he has the de la hoya rematch comming up soon and the hatton fight was 4 months agp the commision counts that as a defense

And why would he have to fight guys like berto and magarito???????? Hes being smart and letting all of them duke it out agianst eachother and last man standing will be who he fights (It will be cotto)!!

he eitehr needs to start fighting the welters or do the right thing and vacate the title so the others can have a chance to be a welterweight champion.

jay a- why did judah get a shot at mayweatehr when he had jsut lost to baldomir. and also gatti was taylor made for floyd. gatti was never an elite fighter maybe a B level figher.

yea floyd fought alot of good fighters in his career bur he also ducked really good ones too like kustyzlu and casamayor . he picks and chooses his apponnent that he knows he can beat

Floyd was truly boxing's P4P best at 140 or below.  Mayweather is no fraud, he simply cannot dominate the welterweight division like he did the lower weights.  Floyd is a "great" boxer, he just isn't a great welterweight.  Mayweather might even out point the best welterweights in the world, but Floyd didn't bring either his power or his chin with him up to 147 when he left the lower weight classes.  I don't think Floyd could KO Margarito if he hit Antonio with a brick, and you cannot help but wonder what effect Cotto's body attack would have on Mayweather's foot speed.

At 147 Floyd has some serious competition, and it is clear Mayweather isn't in a hurry to step into the ring with guys like Clottey, Williams, Margarito, or Cotto.  Who can blame him, Floyd makes more money to fight lesser opposition, so odds are good none of these fights will happen.

If Mayweather never boxes again, he is a hall of fame lock, but man who wouldn't want to see Floyd against Cotto or Margarito, that would be a couple of great fights.

MAYWEATHER IS THE REASON THAT BOXING IS FALLING APART TO A RISING UFC. UFC DOESN'T ALLOW FIGHTERS LIKE MAYWEATHER TO DUCK FIGHTERS LIKE HE DOES, IN UFC IF THE FANS WANT THE FIGHT THEN THE UFC MAKES IT HAPPEN. THERE'S NO PROMOTERS RUINING THE SPORT BY PICKING AND CHOOSING THE NEXT TOMATO CAN FOR THEIR FIGHTER. MAYWEATHER IS A DUCKER HE HASN'T BEAT ANYONE THAT WILL ASSERT HIM THE POUND FOR POUND GREATEST. GATTI? DEL LA HOYA? BALDOMIR? NON OF THESE FIGHTERS WERE IN THEIR PRIME? HATTON WAS WOBBLING AT THE END OF THE FIGHT AND BEARLY SURVIVED COLLAZO AND WAS GIVEN THE VICTORY ONLY TO SET UP THE HATTON/MAYWEATHER FIGHT. Unbelievable?????? lets not forget that Mayweathers has been around for years and has fought the best in the past!! (Which is why he has become champion in 5 different weight classes) Cotto is good but is no where near Mayweathers in skill or experience. There is no need for Mayweather to fight Cotto/Margarito (who lost to Paul Williams)/ Mosely (who lost to Cotto) / Paul Williams ( Who Lost to Carlos Quintana) etc etc.... In all before Cotto gets a shot i feel he should fight and win everyone who feels they deserve a shot at Mayweathers. Mosley was a good start for Cotto, but fighting bums like what he fought this past weekend proves nothing. Rushing fighters only destroys them. i mean lets also not forget what happened to the last man they put in front off Mayweathers that was SUPPOSE to end him (Hatton)

ive been saying this for the longest time. Its not that hes ever given us reason to doubt him with his boxing. he just seems to avoid the top contenders. sure he fought ricky hatto and de l hoya and hes got another one with oscar in the making but none of them have been title defenses. i heard him on espn saying that in the first oscar fight de la hoya made the rules, picked the weight blah blah. but after winning the first one they agreed that mayweather could make the rules for the rematch. if they fight at 147lbs then ill give him some credit. and win lose or draw he owes the winner of margarito cotto bout a fight and he owes the fans. everybody wants to see cotto mayweather.

but dont count out margarito. that fight with cotto will be an instant classic

I think he is over rated as a fighter. i give him credit he can box and run but he cannot compare himself to the likes of ali s.r. robinson i mean common please he's good but not that good. he did not impress anyone in the de la hoya fight because he ran most of the fight remeber this is boxing not track and field that is why dela hoya wanted a smaller ring. I think he could not beat nor margarito or cotto their styles break down boxers. and remember zab  judah had mayweather but he tired out and mayweather won but did not knock him out while on the other hand cotto did by the eleventh. so to me mayweather is more chump than champ and should not be called the true champ when he barely fights, while the other three champs are giving us great battles

You critics will never be satisfied.  Once he whips Margarito and Cotto you'll say well he never stepped up to 154 or 160 and if he wants to achieve greatness he needs to do it all.  Baloney.  Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a former Olympian and many times world champion who has faced and beaten many world champions and future world champs.  Before he fought Floyd Hatton was thought to be at the very least, the best 140 lb'er in the world.  Now that Floyd whipped him people say he was overrated.  Maybe what is overrated is your boxing knowledge and inability to judge a fighter based on his career and not on your own requirements for them to be the best in their weight class.  Floyd Jr. could retire today and be a lock for the Hall of Fame but there will always be people saying he never fought so and so.  And thats nothing but garbage.  if you wanted to, you could make a list of 20 fighters who may be contenders or fellow champs but there is no way he can fight them all.  The man has won many world titles and hasnt lost a single fight in over 11 years as a pro.  Whether you like it or not he is the best and he doesnt need to fight anyone else to prove it.  Get over your personality differences and accept him for what he is.  Pound for pound, the best professional boxer in the world. PS as for Baldomir being a clubfighter ask Arturo Gatti and Zab Judah if that is true.  There were more than ahandful of people saying Baldomir was big enough and strong enough and busy enough to beat Floyd.  Then came de La Hoya and they said the same thing and then Hatton....it's always these fighters have the goods until the fight begins and Floyd's skills take over.  Then come the excuses.  Dont expect anything different this time with Cotto or Margarito.
