Mayweather and Cotto end LA promotional tour – Boxing News
Enough hype has already been created for the bout between Multi-division boxing sensation Floyd Mayweather and WBA super welterweight world champion Miguel Cotto. However, it seems like both the fighters are yet concerned about the fight’s viewership and
so they are trying their level best to get catch as many eyes possible.
Both the fighters were present at the final session of the LA promotional tour. In addition, to put more spice to the event were present Canelo Alvarez, WBC super welterweight world champion, and Sugar Shane Mosley, former world champion. The event took
place at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, which is probably the most famous Hollywood spot. This was the last session for the Mayweather vs. Cotto’s coast-to-coast press tour. The bout, which will be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on May 5, 2012, is
now being considered among not only the most thrilling fights of 2012 but also among the most heavily and widely marketed fights.
At the theatre, all four boxing superstars had their share of words. Canelo Alvarez took the first shot on his undercard fight against Mosley on the May 5 event being headlined by Mayweather vs. Cotto. Canelo said, “It’s a dream to fight Shane Mosley. You’ll
see the best of me on May 5.” Shane Sugar Mosley joined in saying, “I’m excited and honoured to be on the undercard.”
Finally it was turn for the Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto to express his views, and he said, “I’m anxious to start training for this fight…I don’t want to stop until I find the tool to beat Mayweather.”
Lastly, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather pitched in praising Miguel Cotto and his fighting abilities. He said, “Miguel Cotto is one solid, tough cookie.”
Surprisingly, the usually talkative Mayweather had nothing much to say, especially not about Manny Pacquiao, as he always does. It was a serene atmosphere created by all four fighters. They did not take a dig at each other, instead they acted like gentlemen,
which is a rarity when it comes to boxing press conferences. Since the last month, we have seen and heard Mayweather going over the board with his comments against Manny, however this time he kept his cool and did not go outside the scope of his upcoming bout
with Cotto.
