Mayweather likely to be slammed with additional charges
After being arrested this weekend for grand larceny, it's expected that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be facing battery charges as the DA evaluates his case, reports Michael Marley of the Boxing Examiner.
Mayweather was arrested after a dispute with Josie Harris, with whom he has three children, on September 10, Friday morning. It was alleged that he stole Harris's phone and read certain text messages between her and her current counterpart, Chicago Bulls guard, CJ Watson. Mayweather then demanded if she was sleeping with the basketball player, and she responded. Following Harris’s response, Mayweather attacked her.
Mayweather’s high-priced lawyer, Ronald Wright, is expected to be able to absolve Mayweather of larceny charges, but he may have a much harder time with battery.
Koraun Mayweather, the 10-year-old son of the fighter, told police and investigators that he witnessed his father striking Harris while she lay on a couch.
Prosecutors can also called on Georgia Parker, a friend of Harris’s, who seems to reside at her home (owned by Mayweather).  Reportedly, while Harris was being treated for minor injuries at the Southern Hills Hospital, Mayweather called Parker and told her to leave the premises.  She refused and hung up on the boxing star.
James McNair accompanied Mayweather on his second excursion to the house on the night in question.  He may also be called forth to testify. Speaking of the charges to be laid on Mayweather, Marley said, “This is one fight where Mayweather's corner may have to throw in the towel.”
The events follow a video released by Mayweather last week in which he belittled No.1 rated welterweight Manny Pacquiao.  Fight fans have been waiting for two years for Mayweather and Pacquiao to compete in the ring.
