Question:

Mazda/Nissan/Pontiac Used car?

I had previously been wanting to buy a new car, but many have told me to look at used.

I have seen tons of Pontiacs G6's in the 15k range, as well as Mazda 3 and the new model Nissan Sentras in that range.

Which model would you go for? Right now I am leaning towards the Mazda 3 or Pontiac G6.

Is it really worth buying used when for 2k more I can have it new?

  1. I currently own an 08 Nissan Sentra S & I really enjoy it. The Mazda 3 is also a good choice. Do not get the Pontiac. Of the three cars, it has the worst reliability & resale. Right now there is a $1500 rebate on the Sentra, but the 09's are already enroute & the 08 stock is really thin. I'm not aware of any rebate on the Mazda at this time. Right now I am getting an overall 29 mpg on my Nissan & 37 on the hwy. I also have the Rockford Fosgate 8 speaker stereo & it rocks! Sounds clear & has really deep bass from the twin subs. G'day.

  2. Forget any used Pontiac.  Garbage.

As far as the other choices, get whatever you like as long as it has been maintained.  Invest the $75 and get an independent mechanic inspect any used car you intend to purchase.  The car will be as good as the last guy who maintained it (or didn't maintain it) and they will be able to advise you of common problems or potential issues withy your used car.

  3. Nissan is the most reliable and holds its value better than the other 2 -i had a mazda 6 and it was the worst car i ever had so bad that now i only buy German! That aside, within the next month or 2 it will be the end of the model year sales and you'll get the best deals so if you can hold out until then you'll save at least the $2000. and get a new car to boot! good luck
