Maziyyah Nadhir tames Sin Er Ng to surge into Women’s Singles main round of Indonesia Open GP Gold
Maziyyah Nadhir of Indonesia reserved a berth in the Women’s Singles main round as she defeated Malaysia’s Sin Er Ng in the qualifying-round battle of the Indonesia Open GP Gold, in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, on September 27.
Nadhir displayed a wonderful show of quality badminton in front of the home crowd and crushed the Malaysian opponent in straight games by spending just 29 minutes in the court. The Malaysian failed to control the pace of the rallies and lost the match without
winning a single set.
The first set of the match was interesting between both ladies as they played complete badminton by utilising all of their skills. The score also remained tight in the first-half of the set. The Indonesian was playing better at the net, while the Malaysian
was relying on attacking play. The Indonesian got a two-point advantage at the end of the first-half by reaching 11-9.
After the break, the Malaysian geared up her speed to control the rallies but she completely failed against the in-form Nadhir, who was not sparing any chance for the Malaysian to make a comeback in the first game. The Indonesian played with precision in
the concluding phase and won the set by a 21-18 margin in 16 minutes.
In the second set of this qualifying round battle, Nadhir started the game in a remarkable manner as she quickly established a comfortable lead by reaching at 11-7 in the first-half. She played wonderful badminton against the Malaysian and showed no sign
of slowing down at any stage of the game.
After taking a 60-second break, the Malaysian tried to play better but failed as her challenger was completely uncontrollable for her. Nadhir remained positive and focused in the remaining points to finish-off the game without any trouble by the margin of
21-14 in just 13 minutes.
The local shuttler finished the Women’s Singles qualifying-round match in 29 minutes with a 21-18 and 21-14 score on the board.
