Mazzarri concedes Cagliari are better than Napoli and looking to rest his superstars: Serie A news
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri, insists that Cagliari are better than his team but is hopeful of a positive result against them.
The Neapolitan will travel to the Stadio Sant’Elia on Sunday, October 23, 2011 for the Matchday 8 fixture of the 2011/12 Serie A. Mazzarri’s men are currently placed 5th in the league table after picking up 10 points
from six games played thus far. While, the Rossoblu have had a great start to their season and are placed 3rd with 11 points so far.
The former Sampdoria boss has urged his players to go on the pitch thinking that the opposition is superior to them. The manager is confident that if his team thinks this way, they can easily take all three points from the match.
Mazzarri knows the importance of the three points and a win in this game could put them on top of the table.
While talking to the reporters, Mazzarri said, “I’d like the results on the field to speak and this means Cagliari are stronger than us – the table says so. If we approach it this way, I am confident we’ll put in a good performance,
even if the result is determined by many factors.”
The 50-year-old hinted that he might rest few of his star players for the game because of the hectic fixture schedule. The Azzurri have played almost similar team in their previous two matches and Mazzarri believes that it is tough
to keep the players fresh for every game.
