Mazzarri desperate for a Napoli win against Lecce: Serie A news
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri, believes that a victory against Lecce is extremely important for his team.
The Partenopei side will host the Giallorossi at the Stadio San Paolo on Saturday, 03 December 2011. Napoli have gone winless in their last four matches and Mazzarri believes that the weekend game is extremely important for his team’s league campaign. After
a great start to the season, the Azzurri’s progress has been pegged back heavily due to their European participation.
Napoli have prioritized the UEFA Champions League this season as they have made a return in the competition after a long absence of 21 years. The Italian outfit needs only one point from their last European game of the campaign to secure qualification to
the next round.
Mazzarri has urged his players to shift the focus on the league for the time being and they must complete the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 against Lecce first. The 50-year-old knows the importance of a win and believes that only a victory will keep them in race for the top honour.
The former Sampdoria manager believes that his team is playing very well but unfortunately the results have not justified their hard work. Napoli squandered a healthy lead in their last league game against Juventus recently and conceded three goals in the
second half to finish the match at 3-3.
“This is an absolutely crucial game for us and a very important crossroads. We could’ve won against both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 and Juventus, so this shows just how strong we are when in good shape.”
The former Empoli boss is happy to see the respect given to his side when they play against top domestic and European clubs. He added that his team’s superb performances have forced even the best of the clubs to change their tactics while playing against
them.
“The tactical adjustments that other Italian and European teams make against us prove there is a great deal of respect for us and the threat we represent. However, now there is Lecce, which is a decisive encounter for us. For the first time, I don’t care
about the performance, I just want the result.”
