Mazzarri not happy with his team’s performance despite beating A.C Milan 3-1: Serie A news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager, Walter Mazzarri, is not happy with his team’s performance despite beating the Italian Champions, A.C Milan, 3-1 in a Serie A encounter at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday, September 18, 2011.
The Azzurri trailed in the 11th minute of the game courtesy http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 Aquilani’s headed goal from Antonio Cassano’s cross. However, the hosts fought back strongly to complete an emphatic win over the Rossoneri thanks to
a wonderful hat-trick from their talismanic striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955.
Mazzarri is not satisfied with his team’s performance and believes that his team should overcome the psychological barrier while playing against the big teams. The manager revealed that it takes some time for his team to overcome
the nerves while playing against a top team and it can cost them dearly in the future.
The former Sampdoria boss is not satisfied with his team’s performance of the night and believes that despite scoring three goals they could have won by five or six goals.
Talking to the reporters Mazzarri said, “We had a bad start tonight and if we step on to the pitch against the big clubs like this, then it’ll end badly. We’ve got to improve in terms of our respect and psychological approach.
There were several really good chances that we wasted by not picking the right pass and did not keep enough possession.”
“If I’m honest, I did not like the performance. We were too timorous and nervous at the start, so perhaps we’re not accustomed to playing every three days. We had the same problem with Manchester City and it’s a big risk to run.”
The 49-year-old admitted that though results matter in the end but he has seen his team play better than what they did against Milan and get criticised for it.
The result puts Mazzarri’s men on top of the league table in terms of superior goal difference and the manager believes that his team are real challengers for the Scudetto.
Napoli will take on Chievo Verona in an away game on September 21st, 2011.
