West Brom defender Gareth McAuley has hailed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Goran-Popov-c15165 following the on-loan player’s debut against Aston Villa.
McAuley insists that Popov has handed manager Steve Clarke a selection headache ahead of the game versus Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314.
The Macedonian international signed for the Baggies during the summer for a season-long loan spell, but said that he would like to extend his stay at the Hawthorns.
Despite having the prospect of Champions League football with Dynamo Kiev, the player would like to permanently secure a move to the ‘the best league in the world’.
Popov joined a long list of players that arrived at the Hawthorns this summer. Yassine El-Ghanassy and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 have also signed season long deals with the club. Popov was Clarke’s last signing as the manager looked to add some depth to his already
impressive squad.
The Macedonian defender did have to wait for his first outing in a West Brom jersey, as he sustained a groin injury during training. However, he finally got his chance following Liam Ridgewell’s injury and impressed on his debut.
McAuley believes the player has presented Clarke with a selection headache ahead of the QPR game. The manager is understood to rate both left-backs highly, and will have trouble keeping both happy at the same time.
“Goran has got no fear,” said McAuley. “He’s an experienced player who has played a lot of international games and he was ready to go.”
‘‘He was a little bit disappointed that he picked up a niggle but he did a lot of travelling and maybe it came from that. He is a good player for us. He settled straight in and there was no real adjustment needed for him. It’s a headache that the gaffer
will want.”
West Brom have been on an impressive run in the league, and currently sit at the sixth spot, tied on 11 points with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Baggies have only lost one game this season, which was played against Fulham at Craven Cottage. They managed a surprising opening day victory against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and were going on an unbeaten run until Fulham ended their streak. Their defensive record
has also been very solid; so far West Brom have not conceded a single goal at home in the Premier League.
