Who else things that McCain decided to gamble, and decided since he may not win this November, he needs to get a woman VP to see if he gets independent women and Hillary supporters (If there are any today, after Hillary's speech).

  1. I think I agree, but your words make no sense.

  2. I think McCain gambled, but not unwisely.

If Sarah could do in Washington what she's accomplished in Alaska in a very short time, I'd be very, very happy.

Palin has more experience in office than Obama, and a better track record.

Paln has more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined.

She's the only one to have balanced a budget.

She's the only politician I've seen give herself a paycut when money was tight.

Like McCain, Palin has exposed and eradicated corruption when she's found it. As opposed to Obama who has been involved in questionable things, shrouded in mystery and littered with unsavory characters.

Palin was in Rwanda and Zaire gathering information to help put an end to the genocide during the Clinton adminitration while Obama was registering people in Chicago to vote.

Palin has had to deal with Russia and Canada on issues important to Alaska and the United States. How many foreign negotiations has Senator Obama had again?

Palin has major experience in the energy industry. She understands the geopolitical ramifications of various policy decisions.

There's no way to criticise Palin's experience without making Obama look even worse.

The Republican VP is better qualified than the Democratic candidate by a considerable degree.

    Edit

    One short quote from WSJ:

"For starters, we'd say Governor Palin's credentials as an agent of reform exceed Barack Obama's. Mr. Obama rose through the Chicago Democratic machine without a peep of push-back. Alaska's politics are deeply inbred and backed by energy-industry money. Mr. Obama slid past the kind of forces that Mrs. Palin took head on. This is one reason her selection -- despite its campaign risks -- seems to have been so well received by Republicans yesterday. They are looking for a new generation of leaders."

McCain's surprise choice suits me just fine

  3. I think McCain did the best he could with the knowledge Sarah Palin is going to make people stop and listen to her

I enjoy listening to her speeches but Barack Obama puts me to sleep

  4. How do you misspell the word "thinks" with a d**n  "g", the "g" is three keys away from the "k" so you can't claim that you fat-fingered it or something, all it shows is that you can't spell.

now to answer your question. I think McCain made his decision based on his need to shore up his campaign platform on finance, and who better to help him do that, than a short term governor who has created a surplus in her state. i have other theories behind his choice, but i only share them with the literate.

  5. Sort of true . . . the 11 percent of undecided voters you keep hearing about is actually comprised (for the most part) of independent female voters ages 30 through 50 . . . so it makes sense according to the polls . . . these are women who do not affiliate with either party . . . In past elections they have been called "soccer" moms (Clinton), "security" moms (Bush) and now "hockey" moms for McCain

  6. In the first place, McCain did not elect Sarah Palin, he selected her as his running mate. The V.P. pick (no matter who) never has to win an election. They only have to be associated with the correct person after the votes are counted to become a winner.

Secondly, I fail to see the "gamble". We always hear how candidates should pick a running mate who 1) complements the candidates stands, or 2) who balances the "ticket. Sarah Palin does both.

Sarah Palin compliments McCain by supporting and agreeing with McCain on issues of National Security, and the role of Government in our day-to-day lives, She balances the ticket by being a Conservative in areas where McCain is portrayed as being less than a Conservative. She help to relieve the "fears" of the Republican Conservative base.

There is one thing for sure that will happen on November 4, 2008. This country for the first time in history will elect ether a black man or a woman in a National election. So, no matter who wins, someone is going to make history.

  7. McCain didn't "elect" Palin...he "chose" her to run with him. We have 2 months to go.  Nothing is settled yet.
