McCain and timetables for an Iraq pullout?

Now that the Bush cabinet agrees with Obama in that "timetables" should be set for a troop withdraw from Iraq, what does McCain run on, since that's been his main issue?? (ie: how does he avoid looking like a total idiot?)

  1. The Bush Administration has always approved of withdrawing troops from iraq.  But only when iraqis want us to.

How are they following Obama's ideas?  He wanted to establish a timetable while Iraq was in a state of chaos.  The Bush Administration is agreeing on a timetable now because the situation has calmed and the Iraqis want it.

  2. when we win the War on Terror

    so never

  3. We'll all see movement here as the election progresses. McCain nor Obama can afford to keep thing as they are with showing some kind of viable solutions to the war.

  4. Sorry, but I am not seeing the connection between Bush and Obama here. The US and Iraqis have been negotiating a withdrawal schedule for the last year or so. It doesn't have anything to do with either candidate.

  5. Obama wanted a timetable to cut 'n run before anything was decided in Iraq.  Bush (and McCain) wanted to see the situation stabilize and have the Iraq government take over and secure their country.

Now that Bush's strategy has worked, the surge fulfilled what it was intended to do, and the country is stablizing, the Iraqi government is feeling comfortable enough to work out a plan to take over for the US forces.  This would be good news, in case you didn't notice.  It would also be an affirmation of Bush's policies (and McCain's) and an illustration of exactly why Obama should not be in charge.

  6. And even though the Iraq govt. is ready for us to leave, McCain still wants to stay. It doesn't matter that he said we would leave when the Iraqis wanted us to. Flip-flopping warhawk supreme...

  7. Bush does not agree with Obama.  The Bush administration has agreed to "goals" and some "aspirational timetables".  That is far different from Obama and much closer to McCain's postion.

The conditions on the ground  due to the sucess of the surge has allowed for the negotion of withdrawl.  Obama still does not support the surge.

  8. B.O. is part of mccains pullout

  9. you mean idiot as in obama's surrender plans

  10. He will probably flip flop on that issue too. He will just claim that the war has been won so it is time for us to leave (even though he stated only a couple of weeks ago that there was still a lot of work to be done). Nobody is paying attention to the things he says. Almost daily he changes his positions on issues.
