  1. Yesterday John McCain announced Sarah Palin, first-term governor of Alaska (population approximately 640,000), as his running mate. As a 38-year-old white woman, I guess McCain thinks Hillary Clinton and Palin are interchangeable.

First I laughed, then I was insulted. Palin is a first-term governor of Alaska with terms as a part-time city council member and part-time mayor of Wasilla, Alaska (population approximately 8,000).

I will not overlook education, foreign policy, civil rights, health care or Social Security positions in this election.

McCain, at 72, has outlived both his father and grandfather. He has a history of illness (cancer). He has refused to release his full medical records, all 12,000 pages so that the voters of this country can review them.

Palin would be "a heartbeat away from the presidency." This is McCain's first major decision as a presidential candidate. It doesn't show good judgment. It looks like pandering to get the women's vote and a willingness to sacrifice the country to win an election.

  2. Yes! That is his style of leadership.  He goes with his gut feeling. This might work well when fighting a jet, but it does not work for the chess game of International Politics.

  3. Let's just see how this "gamble" turns out before we go getting all twisted up about it...

I just watched the acceptance speech and I'm thinking she will be an embarrassment.

She has no experience and is completely beholden to Big Oil which financed her crawl away from the local PTA...

She's like the corporate version of Ann Coulter...

  4. If she is a big political gamble, what do you call Obama as a Nominee when she has had more success and accomplishments that Obama himself?

  5. Looking at Palin's record and character, its not much of a gamble at all.

Given Obama's character, Obama would be the major gamble.

  6. I hope he does not get the chance.

    Obama / Biden 08

  7. anyone interested in politics that does not know who she is should try to be more informed. i have known about her for a while.

  8. Frankly, I had never heard of d**k Cheney before he was picked, and that ticket got elected twice.

  9. of course he will.  the way i feel is when someone asks me who i want for president is" it does not matter who it is ,they are gonna bring us down".  they are gonna runus into poverty and dispare.  No prsident can save the world, and no one of them will.. we are in trouble no matter who win's!!!!!

  10. Obviously, yes. This had to be the biggest decision in his long career and it was horrendous. But, on the bright side, all Obama has to do is stand there and let Palin squeak out her resume. LOL

  11. If we want to know more about Sara lets do our homework on her, you'll be surprised on what she has done so far.

  12. All Presidents pick their VPs based on politics and shared vision plays a role too.

Obama picked Biden to appeal to the white working class, that is a fact.

If McCain would have picked some someone like Lieberman, people would have accused him of continue the "good old boys" in Washington.

If he would have picked Romney, people would have jumped on McCain for Romney's baggage.

Of all the choices, Palin is the only one who truly represents change and she has fought against the status quo. Which is what we need.

  13. No, he'll consult Bush first.

  14. Speaking of Gambling with unknowns! What about all you fouls Gambling on Obama?

  15. Will America gamble big time by electing Obama?

    I sure hope not.

  16. Palin is only unknown to people who don't keep abreast of the news.  Before she was considered as a candidate she was recognized as a little person who put Exxon/Mobile in place,

She was recognizable within 6 months of taking office for her intolerance with corruption.  My 19 year old daughter, graduate of NYU said she knew of Palin but did not know she was considered for the ticket.

Paulin is the only executive that has stood up to the Oil companies and won.  She's only unknown to people who don't research before they form an opinion or are selective in what they are willing to learn.

By the way I support Obama but I hope if he wins he will offer her a cabinet post for energy.

  17. McCain will do what is best for the country when he IS president.

his decision to pick Palin was a much better pick than the whole democrat party did with Nobama

  18. He didn't gamble. Never have I heard the words --Please don't vote for me -- so clearly. But you have to be a democrat to hear them.

  19. he really hasn't been challenged yet. While Obama has pictures of himself wearing flag pins yet is accused of silly things like this, No one really bothers to question McCain about the truth of his life. He is the son of an oil heiress. No one questions him about his life of a spoiled rich kid or about all the things said about him on the videos put out by the Vietnam Veterens against McCain. No one asks why being a P.O.W. makes then think he can run a country when he is so out of touch he doesn't know how many houses he owns....did anyone ask who he bought his houses from or how many he is really buying thanks to the mortgage crisis?

  20. McCain picked Palin for what she could do for Americans and to compliment him. Obama picked Biden because he couldn't bear to put Hillary in the White House even though she was clearly the people's choice with 18 million votes. It's really Obama that gambled and lost.
