Question:

McCanns: does the Portuguese decision to end the status of 'Arguido' mean the McCanns are innocent ?

We read that the Portuguese Attorney-General Fernando Pinto Monteiro issued a statement that Detectives found no reason to charge any of the three people named as Arguido's in the investigation into the disapearance of Madeleine McCann: Kate & Gerry McCann and Robert Murat.

Does this mean that Kate and Gerry McCann are innocent ? or just that there was insuffient evidence to bring a prosecution ?

  1. That wee child still disappeared after she, and her siblings, were left alone whilst the McCanns were out eating and drinking  with their friends...there is plenty of evidence of that.

  2. It beats me how anyone can think them innocent when they are unique as the only parents to refuse to answer the police questions or assist with a reconstruction!!!

Surely it matters not whether they are innocent or not - they have shut down the search for Madeleine by their action and therefore have abandoned their daughter!!!!!

The investigation could be reopened immediately if they agreed to answer police questions but they wont do it - they only want to see the police files to see what they had on them!!

There is a simple maxim that holds true - A guilty person claims the right to silence whilst an innocent person simply wont stop talking!!

You could follow that with a good parent would risk anything to help the search for a missing child - even a life sentence!!!!

  3. no, the way i was reading it was that should substantial evidence, i.e. a body, become available the case would be very much back on.

  4. YOU HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE CHILD KILLERS! many times in your first unveiled questions, also through the use of your many ID,s......................I nor most of the people that disagree with you and your many IDs and sycophants are not pro McCann, merely pro justice unlike your ilk that would hang people on theories and the utter nonsense that they read in trashy newspapers......i think its time for you to hang up 17pdr and start picking on someone else. but i suppose you got what you wanted, attention....somerthing, i fear, which is lacking in your sad lonely life.....you have my pity

  5. Not neccasarily. 'Arguido' just means 'suspect' in Portugese. As the Portugese police have withdrawn this status, the McCanns are no longer formal suspects in the case. This could be due to lack of evidence or just the simple belief that the parents of a young girl could not kill her. It could also be that, as the case is now 'closed', it is pointless labelling someone a suspect in an investigation which is no longer taking place.

    Hope this answers your question!

  6. At this time I believe it means any claim of being involved in the disappearance of Maddie (beyond neglect) can not be substantiated.

The Portugese Police certainly haven't covered themselves in glory have they?

  7. It means they have,as stated no evidence to prove otherwise and heaven knows they've had long enough to make your day.Guess you owe them an apology.

  8. innocent??? LOL.. when Madeleine turns up alive, thats the day I will believe they are innocent..

  9. 17pdr. what happened to your usual introduction of main suspects and serial child killers. ???? It means that as there is no evidence against them they have to be proved as innocent.Which puts paid to you main suspects and serial child killers for good. I hope. You "forgot" to inform us how many children the McCanns have killed. ? Remember ?

  10. NO. It just means they had many friends in high places to help cover it up.
