The influential midfielder missed out on the team’s Euro campaign but is looking to make a return tonight after his father’s fight with cancer eased over the summer.

A worthy decision, he has been hailed for his nobility and still has a bright future for him given that he is only 21. A regular starter with Wigan Athletic, McCarthy has often shown his quality in the Premier League and has been one of the main creative
forces at DW Stadium in their annual battle for relegation.
Nonetheless, it’s a new start for the man, who has been called up for Ireland’s friendly game with Serbia in Belgrade and is in contention to start after a bitter display in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 from the Boys in Green.

Meanwhile, McCarthy has commented on the game and claims that is eager to start after fully tending to the needs of his ailing father.
"My dad is still getting treatment and fingers crossed everything goes well. At least things are more positive. It's obviously been a tough time. I try to get up (to Glasgow) as much as I can. I wanted to see more of him, so I went home during the summer
and spent it with him.”
"It was good to get home, but it was disappointing missing out on the Euros, and it was tough to watch. A lot of people said it was a terrible campaign, but the most important thing is we learn from it, and we take positives. It obviously wasn't easy, but
we played three massive teams, with two of those in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 who reached the final. I'm sure we'll kick on from it."
The game tonight will be crucial for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/James-McCarthy-c17702, who is one of the Ireland’s shining lights in the English Premier League.
