The Reading boss has admitted that he seems to be the favourite to receive the sack following his side’s erratic showings thus far this term, while heaping praise on the Royals fans.
Reading manager, Brian McDermott, has open heartedly admitted that he seems to be the favourite to get the sack following his side’s poor showings thus far in the ongoing 2012/13 season.
The Royals are currently occupying the 19th spot on the Premier League table, six points adrift of the safety zone, and the 51-year-old tactician has admitted that everyone talks about everything else when you are not securing results.
“If you’re not winning games then people talk about something else, like my position, Danny Guthrie or stuff that doesn’t have a massive interest to me. Win, lose or draw you can still talk about the football. It’s usual, I suppose. With this league and
how it is – you get that. We’ve had incidents over the years but in this league everything gets magnified”, McDermott was quoted as saying to the media.
The Royals have thus far failed to achieve results in their favour, winning only one of their 16 league matches thus far.
In spite of the club’s poor performances, the fans have remained behind their team, a fact that the former Cardiff City player has also admitted.
“Our fans have been fantastic, I can’t fault them. They are standing by the team”, McDermott added.
The Royals will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in their upcoming league game at Madejski Stadium on Monday, December 17. The English mentor would be gunning to avenge his side’s 7-5 Capital One Cup defeat to the Gunners when his side takes on Arsene Wenger’s
men on Monday.
However, the 51-year-old trainer has admitted ahead of his side’s upcoming tie that he seems to be the favourite to receive the sack.
“I am favourite to go first, we all know that. Sixteen games ago I'd have been 50-1, now I'm 7-4. That's how it works in football”, McDermott concluded.
Reading, who earned promotion to English Premier League after winning the Npower Championship last term, are in desperate need of points in order to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive come the end of the season.
