The Reading boss was far from pleased with his side’s below par performance in the 3-0 defeat against Sunderland on Tuesday, while insisting that he does not fear receiving a sack following the club’s poor showings in the recent weeks.
Reading head coach, Brian McDermott, was extremely disappointed following his side’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sunderland at Stadium of Light on Tuesday, December 11. The game was initially scheduled to take place on August 25, but a waterlogged pitch postponed
the match.
The 51-year-old admitted that his side struggled to assert its authority on the pitch throughout the 90 minutes, while adding that his troops put in a decent show in the opening half.
“It was a tough evening, we were struggling a wee bit with our players out. If you give away a goal in the first half, such an early goal, it gave them a lift as well so that didn't help. I thought first half, we played some decent football, made some chances
at the end. We have to be more solid”, McDermott was quoted as saying to the media in the post-match press conference.

The Royals struggled to play their normal game, and failed to create any clear cut goalscoring opportunity throughout the game. Stephane Sessegnon’s strike at the stroke of full time whistle sealed an emphatic 3-0 victory for the hosts.

“I don't fear that [the sack], no. I've been in football for 30-odd years now. I know this club is in a far healthier position than it was a year ago, two years ago. I've been used to winning games over a long period of time and at the moment, we're not
winning games”, McDermott concluded.
Reading are currently placed 19th in the league standings, six points adrift of the safety zone.
