Despite being knocked out of the competition, the Royals boss was satisfied with his side’s display on the pitch.
“We gave them a real run for their money. It makes you think when they can bring on players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 as well. When he was warming up I told him to sit down. We have to come back here in the league and will know a bit more about what to expect”,
McDermott was quoted as saying to the media.
The former Slough Town boss went on to reveal that his side entered the game with the ambition of putting a fine show, and they did that exactly.
“We really wanted to put on a performance for our fans and we have done that. Now we can look forward to Saturday's game against Wigan”, McDermott concluded.
Reading will lock horns against Wigan Athletic in their next Premier League game on February 23.
