Reading’s manager, Brian McDermott has gone on to blast all the rumours which claimed that the team were looking to bring in as many as ten new faces in the January transfer window.
It was previously believed that the club’s owner was not very happy with the way things were going about at the club, and in order to avoid watching his club get relegated, he had proposed the idea of bringing in a host of new faces.
Despite that fact, McDermott has gone on to assure everyone that the team won’t be going over the top to such a great extent, and that so many new faces will not be brought into the club.
He also felt that it was better for him to clear the air now, since he didn’t want the club’s fans to get disappointed come January.
"First and foremost I would never sign 10 players in January," he said in a recent interview.
"We wouldn't even have the budget to suggest we could sign those players.”
"The owner actually said we've been looking at 10 players. Well actually we've been looking at hundreds of different players because that's what we do, scouts go out.”
"January to January we'll see what we've got budget-wise and what we can do.”
"Anyone who comes in January, they've got to be in a position where they can hit the ground running.”
"There isn't a bundle of money to be spent in January and I think it's important that the fans know that because it isn't the case."
At the moment, one of the prime targets for the club seems to be Arsenal’s out of favour Russian international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771.
The Russian has not settled into the club over the last two seasons, and he is being favoured to make a move out of the club in the near future.
At the moment, there have been no clear names linked with a move to Reading, but considering the January transfer window is now fast approaching, the manager is bound to list down a few people who he thinks could help improve his squad.
All in all, it is a wait to see whether the team can avoid relegation this season or not.
