McDonald- A bunch of cheapos.

Question

So have ya'll heard that McDonalds is taking the double cheeseburger off the dollar menu because of rising dairy prices? Either that or they are going to start making it with only one piece of cheese or no cheese, or make it smaller. How is it that one of the biggest and richest corporations in the world feel the need to do this?

Thats fine. America needs to lose weight anyways...maybe this will discourage people from buying it.

double cheeseburger is already $1.25 here. This seems like old news to me. They put the reg cheeseburger on the $1 menu now.

haha, that's sad. it probably only costs them at most $.35 to make. it's only like 2 ounces of meat!

Is Burger King doing the same? I think McDonald's  will lose business by eliminating popular menu items.

You need to realize a few things:

1.  Most McDonalds are NOT owned by the company, but are owned by independant franchise owners.  These Franchisee's pay HUGE amounts of money for the right to own a McDonalds (thats how the corporation makes so much money)

2.  The margins on many items on the McDonalds menu are tiny (margin is the profit they make).  So when the price of cheese goes up, that margin disappears.  The independant owners then take a loss.  Why should they sell you a burger for less than it costs them to make it?

Oh that sucks.  My typical meal from McDonald's is a double cheeseburger, medium fries, and a sweet tea.

i did read that this morning. said they are going to start calling it a double hamburger with cheese instead. i know money is tight right now but their processed cheese can't cost that much. i never eat their hamburgers anyway.

talk about cutting the cheese!!! hamburgers are great with cheese but let be economical about this maybe it aint all bad think of the calories you'll not be eatting and maybe it'll be a healthier burger??
