  1. I used to know this, let me see. I think it's because of two reasons. Mcdonald's owns the copyright on hundreds of names of food items, some they have now, used to have or are thinking of having in the future, McPizza, McRib  for example. I think someone else beat them to the copyright for McHotDog or McDog, so they can't use it unless they pay the copyright holder, provided they are willing to sell the name to Mcdonalds. McDonal's naturally would like to have a signature name for it not just "hot dog". Another reason is that they can't come up with a superior product than the good hot dog chains or even hot dog carts you see in the bigger cities, it would be more like the movie theatre ones probably that roll around on the hot dog machine. Not worth the trouble I guess.

  2. I don't know why they don't sell hotdogs. I love their Mc ribs.

  11. Captain Chillidog is right, Ray Kroc wouldn't let it be on the menu, the reasoning behind that is it would be next to impossible to assure the quality standards of  ingredients when the hotdogs are made,  god knows whats in them,  Captain Chilidog should get the best answer

  12. They sold hotdogs in Japan in 2002(I was there), but they called them 'frankburgers'.

They test martket new items all the time, but since a majority of customers have demanded healthy food, I don't think they will ever go back to the fattening junkfood hotdogs.
