Question:

McDonalds Hiding Nutrition Facts?

Do you think McDonalds really keeps nutrition facts away from people or just don't make effort to educate people about their nutrition facts?

There is some stuff pointed out here that I found interesting, and I'm thinking that if people really knew this, they'd probably not eat McDonalds all the time.

You can barely even get a nutrition facts label thing from McDonalds, or any other fast food place if you tried to. Do you think that there should be a rule that fast food places have to give you the nutrition facts of what you're eating?

  1. Uh...McDonald's has nutrition facts on the food's packaging.  And EVERY fast food place has a guide online.  I've also never been to a McDonald's where the info wasn't posted on the wall.

  2. Most of McDonalds products have the nutrition facts printed on the wrappers/boxes.  The back of the placemats (on the trays) also has a comprehensive list of nutrition facts.  McDonalds, while not really healthy, is still much more forthcoming than most sit down chains, such as Applebees, Panera Bread, or Ruby Tuesdays.

  3. i love there salads

  4. Here's a flash:

You don't need to know that virtually nothing at a fast food restaurant is good for you.

I don't need them to tell me... just use common sense.

  5. i think all restaurants who make food about the same like with a constant menu should do this show the nutrition facts they give um to u if u ask though but it should be required to put it on the wall or something i mean people already know its terrible for u but they like it or on the go putting up nutrition facts isnt gonna stop alot of pple from eating it i still eat it occasionaly and if i do i get a burger fries and a shake but i do like 1 time a year when i go on a trip to NY on the way there we stop at Mcdonalds =) but yea good point star for u :)

  6. I don't think they would want their customers or potential customers to know that they use factory farmed cows (and chickens) who are not only not fed their natural diet of vegetation, but fed ground up cows that were leftover from the slaughter house, in addition to hormones steroids, etc.  I think they want people to see that they are green, but rape the environment with the factory farms and the trash on which they serve their product. Go figure. All of the grease and fat on white bread just doesn't sound appealing to me.

I have a plethora of sites to share with you , in addition to recommending "The Way We Eat, Why Our Food Choices Matter" and "Fast Food Nation".

I hope I've helped and that the following sites will also be of some help.

  7. My 12 yr old son was working on a nutrition project at school as was asked to get a copy of the nutrition facts from McDonalds..

I took him to a McDonalds near our home and they had a hard time getting him a copy.  I think they do hide them because if they display them where the menu is people wouldn't go as much as they do and they will lose customers.

Have you seen the movie Super Size Me? I rented it for my kids to see it.

  8. You can find nutrition facts for everything on their website.  However, I can imagine they don't want to announce to you that you're consuming a lot of calories, fat, etc., and a lot of people don't want to be bummed out by knowing what they're really eating when enjoying some lunch....kinda like eating a hot dog while someone tells you what part of the animal was recycled to make it.

I believe there has been a lot of debate in the state of New York regarding requiring restaurants to list calories on their menus.

  9. That's very odd, because while I can't remember the last time I went into a McD's at least in the UK they have been displaying detailed nutritional info in their UK outlets for years (if you know where to look).  Regards fast food restaurants giving nutritional facts there is legislation in place or coming into place in most western countries, but you may have to ask to see it...

  10. New York already has such a law in place and I believe it may become a federal law soon enough.
