Question:

McDonalds & interview?

I'm 15, and i work at McDonalds, and not really enjoying it, so i'm looking for another job and have some questions.

ok so lets say that i have an interview with some other store or whatever,

and they ask me if i have any experience.

what do i say? should i say that i worked at mcdonalds? or that i DO work at mcdonalds.

'cause if i say that i work there right now wouldn't they say "so why do you want this job. you dont really need it 'cause u already have one" and they also might think that i might leave that job real quick too.

and also when i was hired, mcdonalds took my working permit.

so how do i go about getting that back, to take it to another job interview, without making it seem like i want another job.

and i dont want to quit mcdonalds until i have another job.

sorry for making it so long.

best answer gets ten points

  1. Just go there and tell him the truth, he wont think you will quit this job too bc most ppl hold there old job until they find something that they like better.  Let him know how hard of a worker you are, always on time and very people friendly.  You should get the job!

  2. dont lie to them say your currently working at mcdonalds and your planning to quit once you get a better job.

  3. The best thing you can do is be honest. Tell the company you are interviewing with that you currently work at McDonalds, but are seeking a new employment opportunity. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as you don't put down your boss or other employees in an unprofessional way. It is actually better to search and secure a new job rather than quit your current one and be out of work for 3 weeks when a new opportunity may come up in 3 and a half weeks. Also, do not 'burn your bridges' by putting down a manager or purposely making mistakes.. any reference is a good one, and if you are honest, considerate and do your best, you''re not doing anything wrong, and you'll leave on good terms. Not every job is for every person. I have had a good amount of jobs in the past, and even if the job wasn't my favorite, I made it a point to keep it in good terms. I hope this advice helps. Good luck!

  4. I did the exact same thing, worked at McDonalds, then transferred to Staples shortly after. I told staples that i was interested in working in retail rather than food service, but NEVER down McDonalds to them, it looks really bad to put other places down. just say that you really enjoy working there but you're looking for new opportunities or something. As for the working permit, they won't need to actually see the papers until after you're hired so you can wait to ask for them back once you quit mcdonalds, but as i did in my case, it's really easy to just get a second copy of your papers from your school.

  5. say your working at mcdonalds but you would like to try a new career opportunity as currently youve worked at mcdonalds and are not currently enjoying it and would like to try out new career options to broden your horizons and gain more experience to enhance your c.v ,,,

many ppl have job interviews when currently working elsewhere and it poses nothing wrong this is just the way the world works hth x*x

  6. Tell the other place you are looking to move to a job closer to your home. If the other job you are interviewing for is also in fast food tell them the team dynamics are out of line and your looking for a safer work environment.

If your looking for a job in retail just say that your not interested in working in that industry anymore.

  7. I would tell them you are currently working at mcdonalds but looking for new employment and will quit the mcdonalds job once working somewhere else. if they asked why you want this job, just say that you dont like your job, its not paying enough, and that this job would be better for you. hope i helped! good luck with any future interview!!!
