McDowell sets his eyes on the Irish Open 2012
The winner of the US Open 2010, Graeme McDowell expects to win it again. This particular tournament has great value for McDowell as it is being held at his home town.
McDowell is happy with the proceedings going on at the Portrush. The famous course is undergoing preparations to be converted into the venue of the Irish Open. The locals are working hard to make the event a huge success.
It is a great honor for Graeme McDowell that he is one of the reasons behind the event being held in Northern Ireland. He, along with a few others, worked hard to bring the tournament back to the country.
Regarding this topic, McDowell said "To be one of the three or four guys who helped make this happen through our major successes also gives me a huge sense of pride - it's great to have played a part and it's kind of a dream come true".
He had a mesmerizing win in 2010 at the Pebble Beach. McDowell raised the trophy. The last person to win this trophy from this province was Fred Daly, in the year 1947.
In a recent interview, McDowell said, “There will be a bit of extra pressure and the event will have the feel of a major. To see the town I grew up in scrubbed up and ready for one of the biggest events on the European Tour makes me very proud”.
McDowell was also sure about this event being a big success. The course is anticipated to be up to the mark and will be a great platform for the best to contend against each other.
Going on about the course and the preparations made for the fans, McDowell said, “The course is in fantastic condition and it's exciting to have it laid out and conditioned for a Tour event”.
At the Irish Open, in which McDowell expects himself to play well, he is going to be alongside Simon Dyson of England and Padraig Harrington of Ireland.
The Irishman Graeme McDowell expects to shine in this tournament. Will he be able to give one of the best performances of his life or not, only time can tell.
