Paul McGinley to postpone his beginning of season
Keeping in view the medical and aging complications Paul McGinley has been going through, he has been advised by doctors to reinitiate his golfing session either from March or April with the beginning of the Race to Dubai event.
It was during the event when he began to experience pain on his left knee.
He will be making his entry again after he last played Iskander Johor Open in the month of November in Malaysia.
Upon checkup, it turned out to be a rather minor problem. McGinley was, therefore, directed by Dr. Andrew Unwin that he should complete this week at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
Dr. Unwin also advised that following this week’s play he should then take a week off in order to get proper rest.
It has finally been decided that he will tee up in the mid of February at the Avantha Masters, which will take place in India.
McGinley shared, “It was just six weeks of total rest with no golf at all. I am disappointed every week I can’t play because I still have a real desire to play but I don’t want to go at it to h**l for leather starting off and the advice I’ve been given is to have one week on and then one week off and so on”.
Regardless of the injuries he is facing, McGinley played a full round of golf with his fellow Irishman Shane Lowry and Scotland’s Richie Ramsay.
However, McGinley is not happy regarding the fact that he will not be able to complete the Race to Dubai event.
According to McGinley, this is mainly to keep himself in form so that he does not lose his momentum when returning into mainstream.
In addition to this, Ray Lathford and Des Smyth will be serving the role of caddies for McGinley during his practice session.
Experts believe that with the help of his consistent practice he will be able to maintain his form. At the same time, he will be able to overcome the stress and trauma he might have of undergoing a knee treatment.
It is being expected that among all other aging players, McGinley will be able to perform well at the upcoming events of golf.
