McIlroy versus Donald, who will grasp the World number one spot?
The battle for number one spot in the world of golf begins at this week’s PGA Championship. This week is filled with entertainment and surprises as the top notch golfers from all over the world battle it out for the number one spot.
Two names prominently stand out, the world number one Rory McIlroy and world number two Luke Donald.
These guys are amazing. They are young, passionate and carry the right amount of fuel that ignites their position in the top ranks.
McIlroy turned professional in 2007 and after that, he has been invincible.
He has six professional wins on his name that include 3 PGA Tour wins, 3 European Tour wins and a win at the Lake Malaren Shanghai Masters in 2011.
His position at the rankings has one and only one reason, consistency. No matter what the conditions are, no matter how the form remains, this man comes to the field with one aim, winning at any cost.
His popularity and level of play has tress passed the great Tiger Woods who is currently ranked number seven in the official ranking.
Luke Donald, on the other hand, has experience. His love for golf has a completely different side which is pretty obvious from his stats.
Donald, former world number one, turned professional in 2001 and hit the PGA Tour in the same year.
He has an impressive twelve professional wins on his name which include 5 PGA Tour wins and an outstanding 6 European wins.
His list of awards is as impressive as his stats. In 2011 alone, he won 7 awards that included PGA’s leading money winner, Vardon Trophy, Byron Nelson Award, PGA Player of the Year, PGA Tour Player of the Year and European Tour Golfer of the Year.
This week’s PGA Tour will give an answer to the Donald versus McIlroy debate.
McIlroy maybe the best in the world at the moment, yet, Donald is looking very promising with his game and has high chances of stealing the number one spot from McIlroy.
Both of these players are amazing at the game of golf. The upcoming tournament will set the sight crystal clear as the battle for the world’s best golfer begins this week.
