  1. Daniel Vettori won an important toss and New Zealand cruised to a good 258 for 4 in 90 overs on the first day of the second Test against India at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday. A crowd of little over 13,000 came for the first-ever Test -- 101st venue in the world -- at this venue. But there was not much to cheer for the home crowd. On a wicket that offered little assistance to the bowlers, left-handed opener Timothy McIntosh (102; 254b, 376m, 10x4, 1x6), made most of two reprieves and rode to his second Test century. India could capture only four wickets but were trifle unlucky as they could have taken at least three more. Seamer Zaheer Khan bagged two wickets in the post-tea session to help India recover. Guptill, who came into the side in place of BJ Watling, made most of the benefit by playing a confident 85 (160b, 9x4,, 1x6) even as the dour McIntosh dug in at the other end. Guptill dominated the second wicket partnership of 147 runs with McIntosh.
