McKay sustained a hamstring strain at the current training base of the national team in Darwin and will miss at least the 50-overs leg of the tour. However, the injury gives young Alister McDermott, son of the former legendary Australian fast bowler Craig, to make a name for himself, having already impressed this past season with the Bulls. The 21-year-old was the stand out perform for Queensland, claiming 16 scalps at 18.87, including a five-wicket haul. His economy rate of 4.23 was also noteworthy.
