McLaren, Ferrari and Team Lotus take part in Moscow City Racing Show – Formula 1 news
The Moscow City Racing Show was held near the ancient walls of Kremlin where McLaren, Ferrari and Team Lotus showcased their cars and entertained the crowd by pulling off stunts like the doughnut, burnouts and driving the cars at high speeds.
The Ferrari fans got pretty much of everything they wanted as they got to see the experienced Giancarlo Fisichella drive the F10 (Ferrari’s 2010 car) and for him, it was more than an honour to represent the team at such a prestigious event.
“It was a great honour to represent the Scuderia on such a special occasion, the first time a Ferrari Formula 1 car has been driven through the streets of Moscow. The organisers have done an amazing job to lay out such an interesting course, which I definitely
found more interesting than previous ones of this type that I have driven,” said Fisichella.
McLaren driver Jenson Button was quite excited about this whole event as it seemed more like a dream for him.
“I can hardly believe I had the possibility to drive a Formula One car around the walls of the ancient Kremlin. I see that the number of fans here is rising from year to year. It's a very good sign that shows the popularity of Formula One in Russia is rising,”
he said.
Other than that, Fisichella added that the rain made the urban streets very slippery as a result of which the drivers had to be really careful while driving their cars. However, it did increase the enthusiasm within the crowd as the show became even more
exciting for them. The rain did not stop them from enjoying the show at all as they were still screaming and cheering for the teams.
Luiz Razia and Karun Chandhok drove for Team Lotus and for the audience they were quite entertaining as they pulled off some pretty interesting stunts.
Since it is expected that a Russian Grand Prix will become a part of the Formula 1 calendar very soon, holding these sorts of events is quite healthy for the sport at the moment in order to attract the audience even more.
