McLaren' Lewis Hamilton set a plan to run updates in Spain race weekend: Formula 1 News
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has set a plan to re-introduce those upgrades in the next Barcelona race weekend which they were not able to bring in the recent Turkish Grand Prix, due to the unknown reasons.
The Woking-based outfit has admitted that they have not been able to run all the upgrades which it was hoping for in the Istanbul race and it hurt their chances of a stronger race result.
There are two weeks between the Istanbul and Barcelona race weekend, however, the McLaren team is planning to take all the updates to the Spanish Grand Prix, taking place on May 22, at the Circuit de Catalunya race track.
The team's boss, Martin Whitmarsh, said, "Once again, however, they'll only be introduced if their initial deployment on Friday proves successful."
Due to the un-supportive role of ‘MP4-26’ car in recent Turkish race, both the drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button could finish their fourth and sixth place, respectively on the grid. However, after a disappointing Istanbul race, the team's principal
admitted that his team performance over the race was ‘quite bad’ among the strong contenders of Formula 1. However, he insisted that he is hopeful after delivering upgrades in next race weekend of ongoing season, his team will come back on the race track with
their good performance.
Whitmarsh also admitted that the reason of their worst race in Turkey was the reliability and rain problem. Due to these issues, the previous updates of their 2011 car did not respond ‘well’, until the end of the race. As a result of it, both the drivers
were failed to continue their good run among the top runners.
Other than these issues, he blamed the excessive tyre-wearing, which became the cause of a difficult fight in the Turkish race circuit.
He added about his team’s further races that, McLaren must focus on their weak points, which they have in Istanbul race and now they have to do better in the next Barcelona race, as they could not bear the unsatisfactory results of their races.
On the other hand, the team's driver, Hamilton discussed the up-coming race updates and went on to mention, “It was the worst [race] this season, but I've had worse in my career, and I'm sure we're going to have a lot better as the season goes on. I think
we can turn around and we will turn it around as quickly as we can. We will bring an upgrade to Spain and keep pushing, as simple as that.”
The team is looking forward to its successful race weekend in Barcelona. It will be interesting to see how McLaren manages its run with the updates on the grid.
