McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton admits 2011 one of his worst seasons – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has recently admitted that 2011 has been one of the worst Formula 1 seasons in his career up until now as he is almost out of the championship with seven races still left in the season.
“It's just one of those years. Everyone goes through tough times and I'm going through it. It's the way of life. Good times will come, and people will make less of the bad times. I've had two DNFs, similar to other people, but I feel I've had worse races,
like Monaco which was poor,” he told the media.
Hamilton has retired twice in 2011 mainly because of his risk-taking driving style. A retirement means that the driver ends the race completely with no points and for a driver like Hamilton who is always competing for the titles, that is a huge statistical
blow.
“I guess I'm an easy target at the moment because I'm always in trouble. Hopefully, at some stage, I'll move away from that spotlight and into a good light and people will only have good things to say. But it certainly feels like it's been a worse year than
I've had previously,” said the 2008 world champion.
Sebastian Vettel on the other hand has had a spot on 2011 Formula 1 season as he has not retired out of a single race yet and neither has his teammate Mark Webber. This proves that Red Bull Racing team is the most reliable team on the grid so far this season
and one has to admit that is the main reason why they are dominating the campaign.
The top-running drivers finish with good points on most occasions in case they do not retire and that means that if one of them fails to finish the race, that respective driver loses a huge number of points since his rivals score better than him.
Nevertheless, Hamilton is pretty excited for the upcoming Italian Grand Prix and he is hoping to score the best possible result for his team.
