McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton confident about the MP4-26 – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has recently stated that he is confident about the MP4-26 as it is ‘really inspiring confidence.’
Hamilton has won two races in the 2011 Formula 1 season while his teammate Jenson Button has won two races as well. McLaren are the closest rival for the championship leaders Red Bull Racing and it is quite clear now that they have the
capability of challenging them consistently as well since they have secured two back-to-back wins before the summer break.
“I think we go into the race weekend in a pretty good place. We've won the last two grands prix and the car feels strong; we've worked hard to improve the set-up, so it's really inspiring confidence at the moment, which means you can push it that little
bit further, particularly in qualifying,” he told the media.
McLaren have been performing really well now and they are still not ruling out their chances of winning the titles this year as there are still 8 races remaining in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Since Hamilton was quite close to Sebastian Vettel’s pole position scoring lap time at the Hungarian Grand Prix, it seems that the MP4-26’s qualifying pace has also improved massively and now the team is hoping of finally defeating RBR at qualifying
as well.
“Of course, the weekend is likely to be affected by the weather, which is always somewhat unpredictable at Spa. I'd prefer a dry race, but, to be honest, I'll take any track condition: I just can't wait to get back out in my car!” he said.
The Belgian Grand Prix is the next race in the 2011 Formula 1 season and it is expected to take place on August 28. It is going to be a very tough and competitive race as RBR, Ferrari and McLaren will be aiming for the win and it is going to be more
like a survival race for the championship competitors now as all of them need to score good points to stay in the 2011 Formula 1 championship chase.
