McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton defends his driving style – Formula 1 news
The 2008 Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has been criticised for his driving style by many former drivers but the McLaren driver recently thrashed their comments as he claims that these drivers should keep their opinions to themselves.
“I find it kind of funny. I'm not sure that anyone really cares what some of those people are talking about or their opinions. I think that if you have an opinion, just keep it to yourself,” he said.
Other than that, he has been the centre of attention in the Formula 1 world as well as he is currently being linked with a possible switch to Red Bull Racing for the 2012 Formula 1 season. However, RBR’s team boss Christian Horner recently stated that he
does not want to manage two world champions at the same time.
Jacques Villeneuve and Nigel Mansell, both former world champions recently stated that Hamilton should stay with McLaren because he is ‘McLaren material’ and since the team is quite legendary and consistent, he should be more patient and stay with them.
Hamilton on the other hand wants titles as quickly as possible and since McLaren failed to produce a good car for the third time in a row this year, he is now considering other options.
“I have no plans. I'm not in any thinking process in terms of what's going on in the future, I'm pretty comfortable in my current contract. Jenson [Button] has his end this year and mine doesn't end until the end of next year, so I have a job for the next
year and a half. All the energy and focus goes into trying to win and that's what I'm trying to do,” said Hamilton.
Nevertheless, the former world champion is going to drive for McLaren until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season for sure and currently, it seems that his 2011 title chase is pretty much over. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing is currently leading the
championship by 186 points and is more than 80 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
