McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says criticism makes him strong – Formula 1 news
McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has stated that the recent criticism from the former drivers has no effect on him in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Brit added that the criticism will not make him change his style but will make him strong for the future. He added that his aggressive style was not a problem at all but his judgment and luck were not spot on.
The Brit strongly stated that criticism is part of the process which comes after a bad performance. He added that if Michael Schumacher or Heikki Kovalainen were winning races they would have got the same praise which Sebastian Vettel is currently enjoying.
Hamilton was criticised heavily after the Monaco and Montreal Grands Prix where the Brit was involved in some high-speed crashes.
Making note of the criticism is Hamilton who said, “It doesn't affect my life what people say - it has no bearing. What Niki Lauda thinks about me, I really couldn't give a toss about it? You get tough. It's like if you fall down and bruise your knee, you
get up and get stronger.”
Hamilton further added that if he would have been winning races, his reckless driving would have been termed okay.
“It's the way the world works, everyone loves you when you're doing well. Just because of what people say and how they act, that doesn't make me any worse a driver. Sometimes, maybe, I don't have the best judgment and sometimes maybe I'm in the wrong place
at the wrong time,” commented Hamilton.
Hamilton’s aggressive driving style has always been admired by some of the former Formula 1 champions when the Brit was actually winning races in the 2008 season.
Since then, although Hamilton has not changed a bit, people like former driver Nikki Lauda think that his aggressive driving style is a bit dangerous.
Let’s see how the Brit fares in his home event, the British Grand Prix starting from July 8, 2011.
