McLaren-Mercedes eyeing title glory in 2012 season – Formula 1 news
McLaren team eyes the title of glory in the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season and is entirely positive about its performance.
There is no doubt that Red Bull Racing is the favourite team for the forthcoming season but with other top contenders like Ferrari which is still struggling with the understanding of its new car and Mercedes which admits that it is not in a state of winning,
the title of glory has been eyed on McLaren and one reason of it can also be attributed to the encouraging feeling of the team.
Moreover, as compared to the last season, there is a huge difference as McLaren team boss, Martin Whitmarsh told El Pais newspaper, “We were too bold and the car was neither competitive or reliable.”
“What we did, turning it around, was a miracle because we changed the rear of the car completely. We almost didn’t believe it because we found a second, if not a second and a half,” said Whitmarsh.
Lewis Hamilton after having a turbulent last season has expressed optimistic feeling about the upcoming season, remembering, “Last year we struggled to do 30 laps a day. Now we’re doing 120, and honestly I can’t remember the last time we did.”
Furthermore, Hamilton stated that the team had been much more confident and comfortable for a tussle with any rival while he said that he was extremely pleased with the performance of the car during the second test, especially in the fast corners.
Hamilton’s teammate Jenson Button is also quite confident about his performance in the forthcoming season and has aimed at winning the first Grand Prix going to be held at Melbourne next month.
Furthermore, Jenson said that if the team would be able to perform well in the beginning of the season then it would quite sure that the game would be on for winning the title.
After struggling in the last year’s pre-season tests both the drivers including all the other members of the team are quite certain about the good performance of the team in the forthcoming season during the second test at Barcelona which reflects that McLaren
will prove out to be quite a strong contender in the upcoming season.
