McLaren team principal, Martin Whitmarsh has said that they have full confidence on their 2013 driver line-up which includes, Jenson Button and Sergio Perez, who will be replacing Lewis Hamilton in the next season.
Hamilton has recently confirmed his move to Mercedes in the next year as the replacement of the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher whose future is still uncertain in the sport.
On the other hand, Whitmarsh has announced that they have signed a multi-year contract with Perez, who is currently in Sauber and will join the Woking based team from the coming season onwards.
The Briton said that they have full faith in their next year’s driver line-up as they have a world champion who will be accompanied by an amazingly talented youngster in the coming season.
Moreover, he praised the performance of Button in his career so far and said that the 2009 world champion is a great person and an inspiring race driver.
In addition, he said that the Mexican driver has got some extraordinary talent and driving skills. He also said that he has known the 22-year-old for quite a long time and admired his performance in the season until now.
“In Jenson we have a real proven project, a great guy and a race winner. He is someone who a couple of races ago was utterly dominant and in Sergio we have someone who is very young, he is only 22, very raw, but a fantastic natural talent,” Whitmarsh said.
Besides, he said that they are eagerly looking forward to polish the skills of the young driver before the start of the coming season so as to make him a world champion.
“Most people accept that he is the rising star of Formula 1 so the challenge for us is to develop him before Australia next year and see if we can make him a World Champion,” he added.
The British squad is presently standing at second position in the constructors’ championship. Additionally, they are ahead of Ferrari and are behind their major rival, Red Bull Racing.
It will be thrilling to see how their drivers perform in the remainder of the season.
