McLaren driver Hamilton hails Vettel’s performance in 2011 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton hailed Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel’s performance in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Hamilton said that Vettel performed really well during the races so far. He added that he thinks the German has been exceptional in terms of performance in the season.
The Brit commented, “He has really driven really, really well. He has finished first and second in all the races, apart from one, so massively consistent, massively well controlled. His persona, his attitude I think has been very professional, he has made
very few mistakes - and even the two small mistakes have not been very costly.”
On the other hand, Hamilton’s teammate Jenson Button also praised Vettel’s performance in the season so far. He stated that the current leader has improved in terms of performance in the ongoing season as compared to 2010.
Button said, “I said last year before he won the championship that I didn't think he would win, because he made too many mistakes. That it my opinion, obviously he will not agree with that, but this year he has driven really well. More than his speed, he
has made a lot less mistakes.”
The Brit further added that a driver cannot win the race in a bad car. He said that if any driver wants to achieve a race victory, then he needs a competitive car.
The Woking-based outfit driver discussed Vettel’s performance so far and mentioned that he has a perfect car in 2011 and therefore, he won 8 out of the 13 rounds in the season until now.
Both of the McLaren drivers, Button and Hamilton were at the second and fourth places respectively at the 2011 Italian Grand Prix. Button was quite happy with his podium finish at the Monza racetrack. After getting a second position at Monza, he is looking
forward to another successful race in Singapore taking place on Sunday, September 25, 2011.
His teammate Hamilton is also aiming to do well at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend following his fourth position in Italy.
Let’s see how both of them manage their race at the racetrack for McLaren this weekend.
