McLaren driver Jenson Button: It is all about winning races now – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said the remaining six races of the 2011 Formula 1 season are going to be all about race wins despite the fact that Sebastian Vettel has already wrapped up the drivers’ championship and Red Bull Racing are also leading the
constructors’ standings comfortably.
Button is aware of the situation completely and has admitted that there is no chance of beating the championship leader anymore.
“Yeah, there's no chance. We've known that for a little while, but as drivers you want a bit of hope. It won't change anything though. We're still going to have amazing racing, like it has been in the last few races,” said Button.
The statistics of each driver’s respective career are definitely going to be affected. There are still six races left where the drivers will be pushing to the limit in order to score good performances and probably understand their respective cars much better.
Other than that, the moment when a driver wins a race is just priceless and that is what Button wants to feel at most of the remaining races of the season.
“The emotion when you cross the line to win a grand prix is...it's very different to winning a World Championship. You build up to win a World Championship, whereas a race is just there. Suddenly you've won and it's such an amazing experience. So the racing
is still going to be great, and that's what we love,” he added.
Up until now, Button has secured two race wins while his teammate Lewis Hamilton has won the same amount of races as well. Unfortunately, that is not enough as Sebastian Vettel has won 8 races out of the 13 in the season so far.
McLaren are one of the most legendary teams of the sport and results like these are not satisfactory at all for them. They want to challenge for the championship each year and defeat their rivals who are the top running teams of the sport and are also competing
for both of the titles each year.
