McLaren driver Jenson Button: Sebastian Vettel can win the 2011 title – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel can win the 2011 world championship, as he has already scored very decent points during the early stages of the season in order to challenge this year’s title.
Button also mentioned that Vettel does not need to take any risk in the last eight races of the ongoing season, because he already has a competitive car this year and can compete with it in the rest of the season as well.
Talking to reporters, Button said, “Red Bull has great resources, so it's a different situation to the one I found myself in with Brawn. And if I had the lead he's got, I wouldn't be feeling any pressure at all! He's facing an eight-race World Championship
and he's starting it with an 80-point lead!”
The Brit admitted that Vettel is in one of the quickest cars in the sport at the moment, so a strong finish can be expected for him in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He added, “It's not the pressure other people put on you, it's the pressure you put on yourself to win. I still would love to win another World Championship and that's why I am here. I don't think any driver who wins a World Championship suddenly isn't interested
in fighting for another.”
The 31-year-old driver commented on the German’s performance in the season so far that he did a great job during his races so far and holds the lead in the 2011 championship battle from the start of the ongoing season.
In addition, he mentioned that the Red Bull driver is still ahead of all of the drivers at the moment with a massive gap of points.
The Woking-based outfit driver won the race for the second time in the ongoing season at the Hungaroring racetrack after the 2011 Canadian GP.
Button is sitting at the fifth place with 134 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship at the moment.
Let’s see how Button manages the last eight rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season following his two race victories so far.
