McLaren driver Jenson Button aims to deliver his best in season ahead – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is aiming to deliver his best in the season ahead despite facing immense reliability issues in the first seven races.
Button struggled throughout the weekend in Canada and failed to score even a single point in the race after setting off from 14th grid slot. On the other hand, his teammate, Sergio Perez also faced difficulties in the qualifying and remained unable to pocket
any points on the race day.
Despite a disappointing weekend in Montreal, the British driver has expressed that he is not feeling upset over his poor result and is confidently looking forward to deliver his best in the forthcoming races.
In addition, he said that they can still score victories if they work hard. He also stated that he is very happy to be at the Woking based squad.
“But in terms of every race I go into, I want to do the best I can, and every race I go into I hope to get maximum out of the car, and I aim to win grands prix this year. When it comes to championship you have to think further ahead because we're so far
behind we're not going to win championship,” he said.
“But we can still win grands prix, there is still that possibility and you have to aim for that. I'm still much happier being at team like McLaren than a smaller team when you have issues like this,” he added.
Besides, he said that they are aiming to make the essential developments in their car to come up stronger in the British GP.
Presently, he is standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 25 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Adrian Sutil of Force India and behind his main opponent, Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
In contrast, Perez is at 13th position in the drivers’ standings with 12 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso and behind Jean-Eric Vergne.
It will be thrilling to see how the British team performs in the upcoming races and whether it will be able to come up to the expectations of its fans in Silverstone or not.
