<p><strong>McLaren driver Jenson Button believes they are well in the championship fight – Formula 1 news</strong></p>
<p>McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that they are well in the championship fight and needs some considerable developments in their car to challenge their rivals for victories in the forthcoming races.</p>
<p>Button took a struggling start to this season and could only secure 9th place finish in the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park in Melbourne after qualifying for 10th grid slot. Even though, he took a tremendous start in the second
race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, but unfortunately could not score any point due to a technical issue in his car.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, the 2009 world champion delivered a remarkable performance in the third race held at Shanghai International Circuit in China and managed to secure 5th place finish after setting off from 8th grid position.</p>
<p>The British driver has said that they need to make some essential developments in their car so as to improve its pace to compete well with their opponents in the approaching races.</p>
<p>“Barcelona is always important, and for us it needs to be a good step forward - not massive, but in the right direction,” Button said to Press Association Sport.</p>
<p>Besides, he expressed that if they will be able to make advancement in the right direction, they can surely increase their pace.</p>
<p>“If we can keep building on the package, and if it is in right direction, it does work and gives us a few tenths then that would be great,” he said.</p>
<p>He also said that although they have made some considerable step-ups in their car in the season so far, but have not been able to take the most out of them. Nonetheless, he asserted that the championship is still open and if they keep on working hard they
can claim the title.</p>
<p>“So that's what has hurt us, costing us a lot of points, but the Championship is still completely open. If we can turn it around in few races and be fighting at front, then that is very encouraging for rest of the season,” he added.</p>
<p>It will be thrilling to see how he performs in the season ahead.</p>
