McLaren driver Jenson Button confused by lack of pace – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is unable to explain the reason of lack of pace in the last three races after 2012 Canadian Grand Prix held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on June 10.
Button set off from 10th grid position in Montreal and could not score even a single point as he faced difficulties with the tyre management and car’s setup. Moreover, he took three pit stops and settled on 16th place at the end of the race.
The 2009 world champion has been seen struggling as he could only score 2 points in the last four grands prix. However, he expressed that he does not understand what is going wrong with him over the last few races.
“I don't know. Just no speed at all. I couldn't look after tyres, I didn't have any pace and there was nothing there. I was the only person on the primes at the beginning who couldn't look after their primes. It's been the same at last couple of race and
I don't know why that is. It's something I'm usually pretty good at so I don't know why,” he said.
He added, “Haven't got a clue at the moment. Every time we think we've got some ideas we don't seem to make any progress. I don't know why that is.”
The British driver is presently standing at 8th position in the drivers’ championship with 45 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber-Ferrari and behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
On the other hand, his teammate, Lewis Hamilton took an amazing victory in the last race and is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 88 points ahead of the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Meanwhile, the Woking based team is at second place in the constructors’ championship with 133 points. In addition, they are 25 points ahead of Lotus and 31 points behind the defending champions, Red Bull Racing.
Above and beyond, they are confidently looking forward to fight for the championship title and are ready to provide Button everything which he may need in order to improve his pace in the forthcoming races.
