McLaren driver Jenson Button delighted at his top three start for Brazilian GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button said he is very pleased at starting in the top three for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Button does not have fond memories of Interlagos, as the Brit failed to qualify in the top ten on six previous attempts. He finished 13th last year after a rain disrupted session. The season has been a good one for Button and it just got better
with a much-improved showing at the Brazil circuit.
Button mentioned that although he has had poor results at the venue he is very fond of it, citing the track as good for just racing and competing with chances of overtaking other drivers and is looking forward to racing on the track.
“I think we're all excited about tomorrow,” Button said. “It's the last race of the year, you want to end on a high, but at the moment I'm just enjoying the moment. This is my best qualifying for the last six years, and ten places better I think than last
year.”
“So this is a good start to the weekend, and I always love racing here. It's such a good circuit for racing and really fighting, out of the last corner down in to turn one is very good for overtaking and obviously we have the DRS out of turn three,” he further
added.
The McLaren driver is banking on the good form of 2011 that has seen him almost virtually confirmed for the 2nd place finish in the drivers’ championship standings. Coupled with three wins in the season beating his teammate Lewis Hamilton in
the standings as well, which is an achievement in itself.
Earlier, Button stated that both Hamilton and he are going to be very competitive at the Brazilian GP as the Brit drivers look to score the fourth win of the season to finish ahead in wins. Although a win for Hamilton will still keep him behind Button in
the drivers’ standings.
The situation makes for an exciting race at Interlagos on Sunday November 27, 2011, as the drivers are all set to light up the season finale.
