McLaren driver Jenson Button hopeful of winning 2011 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is hopeful of getting very positive results in the 2011 Indian Grand Prix, which will be held on Sunday, October 30 at the recently unveiled Buddh International Circuit.
Button said that it is fact the team Ferrari was quite quick in practice sessions, especially in FP2, as its driver Felipe Massa set the fastest time during that ahead of all drivers after running at the Buddh International Circuit.
The Brit added that despite this fact he is still hopeful of achieving a race victory on Sunday in India. He also mentioned that they are looking forward to the Indian Grand Prix at the moment.
The Woking-based outfit driver is expecting a three-way fight this weekend, as he stated that the current top three teams including Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren have a good pace at the moment. He believes these teams will be very competitive during the
raceday.
He commented, “Red Bulls are always quick, even if they don't look good on a Friday or Saturday morning, they're quick over the weekend. Ferrari are surprisingly quick - they're going to be very competitive this weekend so it will be a big challenge to fight
both Red Bulls and both Ferraris.”
Button went on to mention, “I don't know if I'd put it in the same bracket as Suzuka or Spa yet, but I've really enjoyed driving around here. It's fast, it's flowing. Apart from there being a lot of dust everywhere, I think they've done a great job with
the actual layout.”
The 31-year-old driver was unable to finish the first two practice sessions of the Indian Grand Prix in the top three positions, as his rivals were faster as compared to him.
In FP1, he ended his run at the fourth place, while he came at the sixth position in FP2 after running on the sets of hard and soft tyres by Pirelli.
After completing 16 rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season so far, Button is sitting at the second place ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso with 222 points in the drivers’ championship.
Let’s see how Button manages the final Practice session, qualifying round and the raceday of the Indian Grand Prix.
